As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • Originality — This submission is original, not published before, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Double-blind — The manuscript file is anonymized (no author names/affiliations/acknowledgements in the file or metadata).
  • Manuscript format — The main file is DOCX or PDF and follows the JPM template (title, abstract 150–250 words, 3–6 keywords, numbered lines/pages).
  • Figures & tables — Figures are high-quality PNG/JPG/TIFF (or embedded in the DOCX) with clear captions; tables are editable (not screenshots).
  • References — The reference list is complete and includes DOIs/URLs where available; in-text citations match the list.
  • Ethics & disclosures — Any funding, conflicts of interest, and ethics approvals (if applicable) are stated in the manuscript.

  • Permissions — I obtained permission to reuse any third-party figures/tables/data, and I will provide proofs if requested.
  • Data availability — A data availability statement is included; datasets or supplementary files are uploaded when appropriate.
  • ORCID (encouraged) — ORCID iDs are provided for authors where available.
  • Journal policies — The submission adheres to the Author Guidelines and may be checked for plagiarism/similarity by the journal.

Aims & Scope

The Journal of Petroleum and Mining (JPM) publishes original research, reviews, technical notes, and short communications across the full spectrum of petroleum and mining sciences.
Its scope includes but is not limited to:

  • Drilling, Production, and Enhanced/Improved Oil Recovery (EOR/IOR)

  • Refining and Petrochemical Processes

The journal aims to promote scientific excellence and innovation through the dissemination of high-quality research in petroleum, mining, and allied engineering fields.

Language Policy

  • JPM publishes manuscripts in English or Arabic.

  • Each submission must include the title, abstract (150–250 words), and 3–6 keywords in both languages.

  • Figures and tables may be presented in the main manuscript language; bilingual captions are encouraged.

  • Use SI units and Arabic numerals (0–9) throughout.

  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all translations.

  • English manuscripts should be clear and grammatically correct; Arabic manuscripts should be written in Modern Standard Arabic (الفصحى).


Manuscript Preparation

Authors must use the official JPM manuscript template.

Formatting Requirements:

  • File type: .docx (Microsoft Word)

  • Paper size: A4; Margins: 2.5 cm

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt; single spacing

  • Equations: Use MathType or Equation Editor; number sequentially

  • Figures/Tables: Embed within the text and also upload as separate files (≥300 dpi for photos, ≥600 dpi for line art)

  • Number all pages and include continuous line numbers

Ethics and Publication Standards

The Journal of Petroleum and Mining upholds the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) principles and follows international best practices.
Authors must ensure:

  • Originality and proper citation of all sources

  • Transparency in funding and conflict of interest disclosures

  • Ethical conduct of research involving humans, animals, or fieldwork

  • No plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication

All submissions undergo similarity screening and double-blind peer review.

Peer Review

All manuscripts are subject to double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.
Reviews evaluate originality, technical quality, clarity, and contribution to the field.

Data and Materials

Authors should include a Data Availability Statement specifying where supporting data and materials can be accessed (repository link, supplementary file, or “available upon request”).
Datasets, codes, and high-resolution figures can be uploaded as supplementary material.


Preprints and Archiving

The journal allows prior posting of manuscripts on preprint servers. Upon publication, authors must update the preprint with a citation to the final published version.
All published content is preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (PN) and compatible with LOCKSS/CLOCKSS archiving systems.


Publication Fees

At present, no submission or publication fees are charged.
Any future changes to publication fees will be announced on the journal’s website in advance.
