Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
The Journal of Petroleum and Mining (JPM) acknowledges the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in research, writing, and data analysis. To ensure ethical and transparent scholarly communication, authors, reviewers, and editors must adhere to the following principles:
-
Authorship Responsibility
AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Grammarly, or similar) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the content rests entirely with the human authors. -
Permitted Use
AI-assisted tools may be used to improve language, grammar, or structure, or to assist with data analysis and visualization—provided that their use does not generate original research ideas, interpretations, or conclusions. -
Disclosure Requirement
Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI tools in their manuscript, typically in the Acknowledgments or Methods section, specifying the name and version of the tool used and the purpose of its use. -
Reviewer and Editor Use
Reviewers and editors must not use AI tools to analyze or summarize submitted manuscripts, as this may compromise confidentiality and data security. -
Ethical Compliance
Submissions found to rely excessively on AI-generated content without disclosure, or to present AI-generated data as original research, will be rejected or retracted.
This AI policy ensures that technological innovation supports — rather than compromises — the journal’s commitment to academic integrity, authorship accountability, and transparency in research.
